The Opera Medicea Laurenzian Organization

The Opera Medicea Laurenziana (OML), to whom the guardianship of the entire Laurentian Complex is entrusted (this includes all of its buildings and their furnishings, works of art, and all other contents within), was established in September 1907. By Royal Decree No. 472 and signed by King Vittorio Emanuele III, it became active by convocation of the Prefect of Florence, January 7, 1908.

The Board of Directors is made up of seven members, nominated for a period of three years, from the Ministro dell’Interno. They can be renominated after the three years have expired.
