An integral part of the Laurentian Medici Complex, the Laurentian Medici Library is the property of the Italian State, and is under the authority of the Ministero per i Beni e Le Attività Culturali.
The Library is a very important center of research on a national as well as international level. The Library is also an important destination for tourists, attracted to the beauty of its structure (the Reading Room and Vestibile), designed by Michelangelo Buonarroti from 1524-1534.
